Shannon Leigh Thomas (CHC, AADP, BA)
The idea that health is not just a physical condition but an integrated way of fully engaging in a vital, productive life is the cornerstone of Shannon Thomas’s health counseling practice. Shannon received her certification from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition; this professional training program gave her a solid understanding of all of the current dietary theories and encouraged her to hone her individual understanding of true health.
Shannon spent several years working to regain her health after struggling with two different autoimmune conditions and a series of minor health issues. She was very unsatisfied with the lack of answers available to her in conventional health settings, so she began to experiment with different healing diets, health regimens and alternative therapies. Many of these practices, particularly the diets, contradicted one another creating more confusion and questions than answers. Through a process of trial and error, she eventually found success by integrating the things that she found worked for her into her lifestyle. An evolving whole food diet, coupled with a solid understanding of the connections between body and mind became the foundation of her health; she found that by investing in her own health and focusing on self care, life became much more rich and meaningful. Her success with this integrative, holistic-based approach caused her to realize that there is no one answer or quick fix that works for everyone; everyone has different responses and different needs.
